Carers Choices had been a delivery partner on a Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project funded by National Lottery Community Fund and European Social Fund to support family carers in improving their employability skills. We were involved in supporting Carers in the south of Essex. This project came to a close on 31st March 2020 and successfully achieved its target of supporting over 117 carers a cross Essex. BBO projects have been funded across the country with the general aim of getting people into employment. With Carers it isn’t always as straight forward as they have other considerations they need to factor into their ability to work so the project focussed on improving their employability skills that would stand them in good stead for the future. This often included training in new skills that perhaps would enable them to have a very flexible home/work life balance.
