Onwards and upwards! The Scottish Waterways Trust‘s Canal Shed at Polwarth is gearing up to become a social enterprise… The Canal Shed folk are currently planning activities for the next few months, looking to establish more connections with the canalside community, and exploring income-generating activities based on the very diverse skills that our members already have in abundance! From outdoor conservation and survey skills, to foraging, cooking, baking, creative crafts, woodworking, upcycling, gardening and much more… See what we get up to, and help us move forward!

The Canal Shed at Polwarth recently took part in skill sharing session from our regular member Jenny, who demonstrated wool crafts – from fleece to yarn – including showing us how a traditional spinning wheel works. We will also be welcomed guests from another wonderful local project – Nks Nari Kallyan Shangho – who were keen to learn from Jenny and hear more about the Scottish Waterways Trust‘s Canal Shed too.  Meantime, here are some photos from a recent session, expertly facilitated by my lovely colleagues Danielle Moore and Lisa Snedden – complete with 360-degree camera! Many thanks to our members who are doing some amazing work upcycling broken chairs and undertaking various repairs around the place. Watch this space for more on the Canal Shed’s upcycling projects!
