Things have been closing down and have got really cold! Some participants who have been in our surf therapy programs have organised and piloted some new projects called Sand Circles. This is to provide a drop-in session once or twice a month for people who have been accessing surf therapy programs and need a bit of extra support.

The pilot session has gone really well & we have felt really lucky to be able to have a caravan space to keep us warm and to be able to go into the sea.

It’s giving the participants an opportunity to volunteer, lead sessions & make decisions on how we run Groundswell. It felt like a very empowering process and we are going to seek extra funding to make sure that we can enable this to happen during 2022 as well.

It has been a time for selling merchandise, paperwork, accounting & evaluation. We have been working alongside Dr. Rosie Arthur from the University of the West of Scotland he has independently researched, interviewed participants, and evaluated our surf therapy programs. She will have completed the report in January 2022 and I will send you a copy of this. The outcomes are looking really good with some excellent ideas for improvements as well.

Wishing you all the best for the festive period and thank you to Vegware for the support you have given us throughout the year just to maintain our safe changing and indoor space.

Waves of love,

Sally & the Groundswell Scotland Team
