January – Permaculture training

Edinburgh Garden Partners supports a community of volunteers and garden owners who are committed to promoting respect for our planet. Increasingly, we’ve noted a shared interest in permaculture amongst many of our volunteers, with some folks already fairly well-versed in the subject and others just starting out. So, in January we partnered with Social Landscapes to host two online permaculture workshops.

February – Kiss the Ground

Following on from our permaculture workshops in February, we hosted a live screening of Kiss the Ground, an optimistic climate documentary that makes a case for the healing power of soil, which could offer our world a solution to the climate crisis. After the film we had an informal discussion with everyone who attended about what
difference we can make. Our volunteers were full of ideas for how to strengthen the environmental aspect of EGP’s work and to make sure we’re doing everything we can to protect our planet.

March – our team is growing!

In March we were delighted to welcome a second member of staff to our team. Rory, our new Volunteering Development Coordinator, will be responsible for strengthening connecting and growing our brilliant community of volunteers. Here he is already getting stuck in helping to set up one of our new garden partnerships in time for the growing season.
