Edible Estates is a charity that creates green spaces within local communities in Edinburgh.
One such green space is the school farm at Canal View Primary School. The primary 6 & 7 children from Canal View work with experienced market gardeners to grow and sell their own produce. Recently, pupils have been growing microgreens with the intention of selling them through shops.
“As part of our school farm project this term we have been growing microgreens. We have also been learning about setting up and running a business. We learned about products and marketing and enjoyed linking with local companies like Vegware, to source packaging, and with possible stockists of our microgreens. This was a great experience, and we are very pleased local companies have supported us.”
