We have continued to use our monthly grant towards our Community Lunch, offering a free hot meal to our community weekly. This has been a vital service to our community to mitigate the effects of the cost-of-living crisis, especially going into the colder winter months. We have moved our Community Lunch to Friday afternoons, and have found that this has improved turnout and allowed more members of the family to attend. Our incredible volunteer offers her time every week to help prep and cook the lunch, and has brought some delicious new recipes to the menu from her home country of Mexico.

We also used some of the grant to hold a Summer Fair, as we do not run a community lunch over the summer (our summer food provision is funded by a different funder). Our summer fair offered a fun day for families and was the perfect end to our Summer Programme. We had fun stalls and games, food, and even a bouncy castle! This was our first big in-person event at the centre post-Covid, and we have taken away a lot of learning on how we hold future events, and hopefully generate some income from them.

Going forward, our community lunch will continue over the next 6 months. We will also be using the money from this grant to top up our ‘sharing shelves’, and contribute towards creating food hampers for families to help them with food costs over our Christmas closure period.

Thank you again for your continued support, it really means a lot to us.
