Rowanbank Environmental Arts and Education has been embracing the Season with an exciting series of Spring events and workshops. Here’s a small sample of what we have been up to:
– Thanks to the on-going support of Vegware’s Community Fund we were able to provide two free places on our Forest Easter Holiday Club. The places went to two 7 year old boys who otherwise would not have been able to come and join us ‘Under the Sky’ in Bawsinch Nature Reserve, Duddingston. It is so important to us to be able to offer these places to children and families that can really benefit from the forest school experience, but who otherwise may not have access to it. Our aim is to continue to offer free and/or subsidised places on our forest arts and education programmes.
– Our Imaginary Forests Project travelled to Falkirk In March, working with local primary schools, the Forestry Commission Scotland and the Falkirk Community Trust. We delivered creative outdoor learning workshops for children, CPD sessions for teachers and a ‘magical woodland walk’ community event. Over 300 people joined us In Callendar Woods on the Spring Equinox, in search of signs of Spring, aerial performers, musicians, stilts walkers, hula hoopers and tree hoppers!..
– Our Renewable Energy Education Project visited the Glasgow Science Centre last month, delivering interactive workshops and events for primary school children. A big thank you goes out to Vegware and Scottish Renewables for their on-going support for this project. Next week we’ll be visiting 8 primary schools in the Goole area of Yorkshire, delivering renewable energy and climate change workshops.
