The best thing about this time of year is running the gauntlet with the weather.  The Friday walking group has been battered by hail, baked in the Sun and blown all over but there’s nothing like a brisk hour walk to get the blood flowing and earn your brew.  We’ve recently had some walk leader training from Paths for All and now have two of our volunteers trained as walk leaders to help run the group and develop their skills, so a huge congratulations to them!  People have been remarking on their fitness improving and the benefits of fresh air on their sleep as well as the fact that it costs nothing and they’re getting to know their local area much better.

There is lots going on at BHSG this Spring with all our usual events, but also a few new ones to try.  There’s a Caribbean Fitness Dance class at St David’s Hall here in Broomhouse starting on 13th May, 1:30pm – 2:30pm. If you’re wanting to get in shape for Summer, a 6 week Walking Netball pilot starts on the 25th April at the same place between 10am – 11am with the help of coaches from Netball Scotland. There’s no charge for these activities and we are grateful for any donations we receive at sessions, so come and have a shot!

We’re also looking for volunteers to help regenerate our beautiful Broomhouse mural between the 26th – 28th May so get in touch with BHSG if you fancy lending a hand, and help finish off this amazing work that has transformed the Broomhouse Market.

We’re on track to move into our new home in the Broomhouse Centre in August – which is still currently being built – and we’re having a massive Spring clean to get ready for the move. Exciting times on the horizon!
