December seemed to come around very quickly at The Yard and our play team were very busy organising lots of fun Christmas activities and a number of Christmas parties across The Yard Edinburgh, Fife and Dundee.

During our Early years service the children decided to get involved in their own enterprise project. They made Reindeer food out of glitter and oats to sell to all our members at family sessions and Sunday Funday. All the children really enjoyed the sensory feeling of the oats and the money raised is going towards helping the service plan more exciting activities like this.

As schools finished towards the end of December we had our three Christmas parties taking place with around 70 children attending each of them. We transformed our solardome area outside into Santa’s grotto and everyone got to go and visit Santa and receive a present from him. We also had Christmas party games going on inside including a Yard special Christmas piñata!

We were shut on Christmas Day and Boxing Day but were open for family session for the rest of the time, and it was lovely to see so many of our members braving the cold weather to come along and play during the Christmas holidays. We are all very much looking forward to another busy 2018 at The Yard.
