Vegware funding update – February 5th 2022
In January we had our first volunteer day of the year which ran on the last Sunday of the month. We also launched our ‘Volunteer Conservation Facilitator’ role where we’re looking to train up 4 people to facilitate monthly community conservation days focused on tree care, tree planting and path maintenance. This role will support our volunteers in having more responsibility and autonomy in their involvement of the woodland and help to ensure essential land management is undertaken.
After receiving funding from Creative Scotland and Orcome Trust at the end of last year, we were able to commence our Musical Forest partnership project this month. The Musical Forest project is being project managed by The Three Hares, and built by The Three Hares, Mischa Stevens (musician) and Frazer Graham (woodworker and musician). This month saw a consultation take place with Suleman, a Ghanian musician and storyteller. This consultation focused on understanding more about the culture and origin of the traditional instruments we’d be making to respect cultural sensitives and help make decisions around design.
