We went out on street work throughout the winter holidays this year. On Christmas Day itself, Rachel and Chelsea took the van out and transported people to different places for Christmas dinners. In the evening, they went out on street work and saw a fair number of folks coming by for Christmas Day sandwiches!
The only day we didn’t make it out was New Years Eve, as Trafalgar Sq was closed off for the fireworks. We want to send a big thank you to all the PTVs who came out over the holidays to give us a hand!
Street work numbers were high over the winter so far this year, seeing 563 in December and the same amount in January.
We use the cups that we receive from Vegeware to serve drinks at our street outreach and we are currently seeing around 150 people per week, though this will increase at the end of March when the winter shelters finish. Last year the cups from vegeware helped us to provide over 9500 hot drinks to people sleeping rough in London.
