Students from Kelmsco School in Walthamstow delved into the fascinating world of compost last week with a visit to the wonderful Organic Lea food co-op.
As part of our Compost Matters programme, the secondary students learnt about food growing at scale, rolled up their sleeves and had a go at sieving and turning the ever changing piles of compost and sorted their lunch waste to into compost-friendly categories.
The students will now head back to school to start developing their own composting system after a visit from a soil scientist and a grant from the Whole Kids Foundation.
