We’ve seen fairly steady numbers of service users, around 50 each Thursday, and have been serving up lots of hot meals and drinks to them all. We have had to run our service in some horrible weather conditions as of late, and we’re very grateful to our volunteers for braving the rain and the cold each week to keep our service running. We’re looking forward to being able to enjoy daylight whilst running our service in a few weeks’ time!
In the last few weeks, we’ve had a young lad called Matthew helping us by providing bakes each week, whilst also completing volunteer hours for his Duke of Edinburgh award. It’s been such a treat to have him baking up delicious cakes for our service users each week, they have gone down extremely well!
We’ve continued to run our service with COVID restrictions, so have ensured all volunteers and service users wear a mask and are socially distanced, with plenty of hand sanitiser to go around. We’re looking forward to finally being able to have a chat and a cuppa with our service users each Thursday when things move towards a new ‘normal’.
