On the 17th December, we had a great evening where we cooked up a Christmas dinner for our service users which went down really well! We had asked our services users a few weeks ago what they’d like in their rucksacks and we had some great suggestions. They all had sweet treats, underwear, socks, hand warmers, toiletries, a flask, a water bottle and a portable charger as a Christmas gift from all of us and the community, who donated generously to our appeal.

We had a break over Christmas as there is lots of other provision in the Bristol area over the holidays, so we knew our service users would be looked after. It was our first service back on the 7th January, and thankfully, we were very quiet. This was an especially good thing in the first week of January, as it was so cold last week that Bristol City Council activated their Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) were hostels etc expand their number of beds in order to allow a place to stay for everyone that might be sleeping rough, when the weather is projected to be severely cold for multiple nights. We were glad to see that not many people needed us last Thursday as they were already warm and fed somewhere else.

This time of year is especially challenging for the homeless community so we are glad that we can be there to help out with a hot meal and other provisions where needed.

Thanks so much for your ongoing support.
