Thank you ever so much to Vegware for your continued support of the Home. Your generosity allows us to keep providing vital care and assistance to both pets and their owners during challenging times.

Since our last update, we have been working hard to strengthen and expand our community outreach efforts. Our core mission remains the same, ensuring that pets can stay in loving homes wherever possible and that those in need receive the care and support they deserve.

Below is an overview of the impact of your support. As always, do let me know if you would like any further information.

In 2024 we were able to:

  • Run a Loving Home
    • Helpline calls answered: 2,687
    • Cost to run the Home per day: £7,000
  • Find a Loving Home
    • Number of animals helped (rehomed and reunited): 331
  • Protect Loving Homes
    • Pet owners supported through our Pet Care Clinics: 166
    • Total meals provided through outreach: 599,145

We recently launched our Cat First Aid Course, which aims to equip pet owners with essential knowledge to better care for their feline companions. Your support has contributed to the development of this initiative, and we are incredibly grateful.

Our 140 years of experience have taught us that behind every animal in crisis, there is often a person in crisis. That is why we are committed to supporting both pets and their owners in every way possible.

Since launching our first Pet Food Bank in 2019, our reach has grown significantly, thanks to supporters like you. In 2024, we provided food for over 3,800 dogs and cats each month across more than 80 locations in East and Central Scotland. In addition to food, we offer essential pet care items such as harnesses, leads, and grooming brushes, as well as access to affordable vet care and educational courses through our Pet Care Clinics.

At Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, we believe in love without limits, ensuring that people and pets receive the support they need, whenever they need it.
