We were delighted to reintroduce rehoming at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home in March 2021, after our team created and implemented a contactless process in line with restrictions at the time. Since then, we have rehomed 72 dogs and 40 cats. In the last six months, we have rescued 76 dogs and 30 cats, and reunited 62 dogs and 7 cats.

Our pet foodbank – Paws Pantry – has gained momentum in recent months. Here at the Home, where possible, we will always support a pet owner in need to keep their pet with them in their loving home. Whether this is by providing a bag of food until the next pay day arrives or providing some blankets at a time of need, we support pet owners in the community without judgement. In the last six months, we have helped 6,334 pets through our pet foodbank and through our partnerships with human foodbanks.

We are delighted to have launched canine physiotherapy to the public in recent months and have plans to launch canine first aid soon too.

On behalf of everyone (human and animal) at the Home, we can’t thank the Vegware Community Fund enough for their continued support – it means the world to the Home and to the animals in our care.
