June has been a busy month at The Garden Gate Project Ltd…

Members of The Garden had a day out on the 7th June to the beautiful Salutation Gardens in Sandwich, owned by regulars on Channel 4’s ‘Googlebox’, Steph and Dom.  Steve, the Head Gardener gave us a wonderful tour and talk about the woodland area of their Garden.  After a Fish & Chip lunch on the Quay we came back to the Garden full of ideas for our own wooded area.

On the 11th June we hosted an Open Day to celebrate the lead up to ‘Herbal Medicine Week’.

Working in collaboration with local community friends from…The Chamomile Clinic, Haeckels, James & Kathy Harris, The Canterbury Journey and The Turner Contemporary we invited visitors to the Garden to enjoy a herbal tea taster session plus mini alternative therapy treatments including…Reiki healing, Back and Shoulder Massage, Hand reflexology and Indian Head Massage.  We also had a lovely time engaging our visitors in arts & crafts activities, a craft stall, jewellery & music.  Our Bee Awareness stand and Plant Stall were also very popular.  Tea, great coffee & fabulous cake along with delicious paella & our famous wood fired pizza kept our visitors fed and watered.

We also had a visit from Tim Richardson, Director of ‘The Chelsea Fringe’ prior to the event who kindly invited us to include ‘The Garden Gate Open Day’ within their festival programme.  Tim was very impressed with our beautiful Garden and hopes to come and visit again soon.

We are now busy beavering away getting the Garden ready for our Music Day on the 23rd July. Bands are booked for a great line up of afternoon entertainment, fingers crossed for a sunny day!
