On the 2nd of February we had a community event  called the ‘Volunteer Blether’. It  was arranged for  people interested in volunteering to come along and meet with organisations  that could offer a range of volunteering opportunities.. Our visitors found the event very worthwhile with 30 people connecting with a new volunteering opportunity. It was a very nice social occasion with a light lunch.

During the February school holidays  BHSG ran two ‘Cooking With Kids sessions’, one at  Murrayburn and  one session in Broomhouse. Lots of families had fun making fun pizza faces and decorating some homemade shortbread.

In school  term time we had a couple of visits to the parents group at Broomhouse Primary, one was a taster of Tone & Flex exercise, and the 2nd visit was to do some cooking and we made  some tasty savoury and sweet crepes and scotch pancakes, with healthy fillings ‘ spinach, spring onion and a little cream cheese’, and for the sweet filling ‘stewed fruit’.

Our three newest volunteers  have been busy helping and learning with some of our physical activities – Chair Exercise and Duo and Adult Walking Group.  Duo is where participants encourage each other by exercising in pairs, babies and children can attend Duo with their parents/carers and have fun too.

While we have been busy out and about our shop volunteers have been keeping busy with everything running smoothly in the front and back shop.

We are nearing the end of our current physical activities  term and are asking our service users for their thoughts about our services in our annual evaluations,  we are now planning for the spring holiday activities and summer term.
