Firstly we would like to wish you all a very happy New Year. Here’s to 2017 being full of wonderful adventures!

Wow, what a year 2016 was! We’d like to share some of Rowanbank’s special moments with you. It was a joy to see so many of you at our workshops and events, and we would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for helping us to create so many magical memories:

– Magical Woodland Walks: Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Dundee, Perthshire, Glen Finglas, The Scottish Borders, Wiltshire & beyond…

– Imaginary Forest workshops – creative approaches to outdoor learning in the playground – childrens’ workshops and CPD sessions for teaching staff.

– Under the Sky – Renewable energy workshops and community open days – UK wide.

– Forest School – Pilrig Park, Edinburgh.

– Dream Circus at the Museum of Scotland – with Skylarks.

– Forest holiday clubs and parties – with Woodland Learning Adventures.

– Summer festivals – UK wide.

– Seasonal celebrations – with The Edinburgh Larder & Whitmuir Farm.

– The Enchanted Forest, Pitlochry – with Fly Agaric Performing Arts.

– All the Fun of the Fair & Liquid Mischief (the Sea Circus) – with Monachyle Mhor.

– Lantern walks and other community & school events – with The Woodland Trust and The Forestry Commission Scotland.

– Educational site visits, workshops and performances – for Historic Environment Scotland.

– Arran passed his Masters in: Architecture with Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies (with flying colours!) & Lucy passed her Level 3 Forest School training :0)

– And last but not least, before the year ended, we squeezed in a Swedish ‘rain or shine’ schools mini study visit – thank you Skabersjoskolan for your time and inspiration!

Thank you for supporting our work – we couldn’t do this without you! A special thank you to: the children of the forest; our talented and dedicated team of forest circus performers, workshop facilitators and artists (with an extra special thank you to Jemima Thewes); our volunteers; our fantastic costume designer and maker – Christine Banks; our lovely audiences & participants; our wonderful clients; and our funders & supporters (The Forestry Commission Scotland, Vegware, Polarn o’ Pyret, Enterprise City Car Club, Nairns and The Woodland Trust Scotland).

We have many exciting projects already in store for 2017, including a European ‘Magical Woodland Walk’ tour this Summer/Autumn. If you know of any folk (and forests) that would like us to visit them as part of this tour – please put us in touch!

Wishing you all much peace and happiness for 2017 from us all at Rowanbank Environmental Arts & Education, and we look forward to working with you again this year.

Best wishes,

Lucy, Arran & co
