As of recent there has been many exciting updates from the Kintyre Weigh shop, Kenny and Hope have been settling in nicely. Kenny has his key cutting up and running with many people coming in for this essential service it is an extremely exciting time. Hopes baking has begun to bring in more customers as well who are searching for tasty bakes and breads. The shop is running well with help from our longer stay paid worker Brendon and our amazing Volunteers who work diligently to help run the shop smoothly and consistently.
Currently we are working on making our very own version of a ‘Hello fresh’ box, creating pre weighed dry ingredients with fun and easy recipes ready to be cooked at home. we have also teamed up with the town ‘s local businesses to send people who purchase the boxes their way to collect their meats, fish, and veggies to encourage people to shop locally. We are currently running a contest on our facebook page to define the name for these boxes with the winner getting a month’s free subscription to these weekly wonders.
We have also started up our very own TikTok page (@kintyreweigh) and we would love if anyone reading this post would care to follow us and see our exciting progress to get our town to think more carefully about their impact on the environment and help reduce waste. We aim to do this through insightful and careful educational and fun posts on our page that illustrates products found in shop that have a positive impact on the world such as our free ‘Hey Girls’ sanitary products, our Montezuma vegan chocolate and even our beautiful baking products from Green City.
Finally, we would like to mention that Sharyn and her husband, the founders of the shop are doing very well in their new area with Sharyn’s insights to the running of the shop bing invaluable to Kenny and Hope with a handbook being handwritten from her, and contact kept open between the three it has made the handover a lot easier and stress-free.
The Team at Inspirabla who are helping keep the shop alive have also been indispensable. Their insights, help and funding have ensured that the Kintyre Weigh can continue our hard work towards a low-waste community.
