Gorgie City Farm - October Update

Farmer’s Helpers during school holidays

Our ever-popular Farmer’s Helpers programme was another success on the Farm, with every slot being booked well in advance. Farmer’s Helpers is our holiday programme for young people aged between 8 and 13, which runs on weekdays throughout the school holidays. Farmer’s Helpers do real jobs across the farm such as gardening, mucking out stables, painting, feeding animals and grooming our goats. Being a Farmer’s Helper can be hard work but also lots of fun!

What a transformation!

Huge thanks to our new friends at Wood Mackenzie for taking on a Corporate Challenge at the Farm. They transformed our Education Room from a lovely, albeit plain, room into a fabulous revived space for meetings, events, and Birthday parties.

Corporate Challenge are a great way for business teams to help us tackle jobs on the Farm that we don’t have the resources to complete ourselves. They’re an opportunity for the team to work together and get their hands dirty!

Our Education Room is one of the bookable spaces on the Farm. So, if you’re looking for somewhere to have your next board meeting or family get together, please get in touch.

We’re starting to get the Farm ready for the winter

With the clocks changing, so do our opening hours. During the winter the Farm is open from 9:30am to 4:00pm every day. Except 25th December and 1st January, when we’re closed to the public.

Our ferrets, Edgar and Ghillie, have started to cuddle up to stay warm – but don’t they look so cute!

Remember, you can drop in and visit our goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, pygmy goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and not forgetting Dougal the corn snake and our tortoises, Speedy, Mrs Murdoch and Freda!
