As you can see from the pictures the Mattie carwood gardens are making more progress. Service users and volunteers have worked together with planting and looking after crops. I feel this project is very successful and highly benefits my service users especially dementia sufferers, as gardening maintains physical activity, cognitive function and social interaction, this helps someone who has dementia to remain stimulated, feel valued and helpful. Over the winter have been maintaining the gardens, as it’s not the best time of year to have the elderly out in the cold for too long so we rely on the volunteers to do most of the maintenance. When better weather returns service users will be growing new crops indoor and outdoor. Now that the men’s shed is now complete we will be using that to grow indoor plants. None of this would have been possible without this funding, my services users and Glasgow golden generation are very grateful and appreciate your support with this project.
