Family Surf Day at Belhaven – July

This summer’s Family Surf Day at Belhaven brought together women and children for a joyful and inclusive day by the sea. With dedicated coaching for wee ones and adults alike, families had the chance to connect, play, and build confidence in the water. It was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from shared experience and community spirit.

Silver Surf Sister Sessions

Our Silver Surfers group has gone from strength to strength, with older women finding both freedom and friendship through the waves. These sessions offer so much more than physical activity — they’re about reclaiming space, confidence, and joy at every age. The support from Vegware helps us to provide wetsuits, coaching, warm food, and a safe, welcoming environment.

Surf Therapy with Refugee Communities

We’re continuing our surf therapy programme into August, working with refugee and asylum-seeking communities. These sessions use the ocean as a place of grounding, calm, and emotional restoration. The response from participants has been incredibly moving — with many sharing that it’s the first time they’ve felt a real sense of peace since arriving in Scotland.

Your support allows us to remove barriers — providing equipment, transport, interpreters, and trauma-informed facilitation — so that everyone who joins us feels held, seen, and welcome.

Groundswell Surf Festival – Sunday 6 September at Pease Bay

We’re now preparing for our 8th annual Groundswell Surf Festival — a day of connection, celebration and community rooted in nature, creativity, and the sea. The festival brings together participants from across our programmes, including Silver Surfers and refugee communities, and offers workshops, surf sessions, storytelling, and shared meals.

This gathering wouldn’t be possible without the support of funders like Vegware. Your contribution helps us create a meaningful, low-waste, and inclusive event — one that holds true to our values of sustainability, equity, and care.
