With summer holidays in full swing, The Yard Edinburgh has been open for drop in

family session Monday – Saturday with lots of existing members and new members

coming along to take advantage of our huge outdoor play area and the lovely

weather. We have also had a number of playschemes in over the summer holidays,

which has allowed us to continue to reach and support as many disabled children

and young people as possible over the summer.

At the end of this month is one of our favourite events at the 18-25s club, Y in the

Park. For many of the young adults in our Saturday night transition club, T in the

Park was an event they were never able to access so we decided that we would host

our own. This is the fourth year it has run and we have two different local bands

coming along to play, plus karaoke is also set up for the club to sing their favourite

songs.

With the help of a few local partnerships from companies and businesses we

transform The Yard into a music venue with the main stage set up in the sand pit and

our outdoor Solar dome becoming a party dance dome. We have a number of

volunteers who help us in the evening with the barbecue and ice cream. It is always

a really fun event, which the 18-25s club love to run and attend. Many of their

families and The Yard staff also love to come, which creates a really lovely

atmosphere.

This year the club had a lovely night and even the rain didn’t damper the spirits with

us adapting the main stage in typical The Yard and moving everything inside!
