Cilgwyn Community Group - December Update

After about two years effort our Syrian family finally arrived, under the community sponsorship programme. It has been a wonderful experience since we met at the airport for the first time in mid November.

The two children will only start full time school early January, due to overfull classrooms and pedantic protocols. Dad started volunteering after a few weeks, and now goes out several times a week, whenever he has a free day or half day to help in a coffee shop. Mum is starting giving Arabic lessons in a week. Dad also helps at a community orchard when there are work days. He is experienced in farming and horticulture.

This is the youngest of three with one of the town team providing a welcome and integration programme.  It was at a packed Christmas-flavoured welcome party, one month after they arrived.
